STAcover_thumbEver worked for a boss that makes Michael Scott seem like a genius?   Ever look around your cubicle and wonder how a prison can only have three walls?  Then check out the new paperback book, “Save the Assistants: A Guide to Surviving and Thriving in the Workplace” by Lilit Marcus.  The phenomenally talented Marcus (who has written for Newsweek, the New York Post and the Huffington Post) combines horror stories, tales of inspiration and her unique irreverent wit into a must-have survival guide for those entering the work force.  Of course, in addition to its insightful look at modern office life, this book earns a special place in our porcine hearts because it features a section illustrated by our very own artist-in-residence and sassy man-about-town Ben Schwartz, who brings visual life to the Bossary, a hilarious glossary of bad bosses.  We humbly ask you, what’s not to like about this book???  Look for it in stores beginning August 31st, or better yet, order a copy today here!

How to Congratulate Someone

Written by: David

How to Congratulate Someone

When people experience life’s most important moments, they remember those who shared in their success. There’s no better way than a greeting card (ok, maybe a Ferrari) to tell them “way to go”! Here at PigSpigot, we have a wonderful library of cards to celebrate special accomplishments.

The Importance of Being Earnest

Sometimes, you don’t want to mess around. You just want to give that special someone a solid pat on the back and tell them, “You did good.” And then that person can show off how smart they are by correcting your grammar. These cards are the best when you just want to say, plainly and simply: “Congratulations.”

This beatiful, typographic congratulations card gets the job done, shortly and sweetly.

This carnivorous creation, emphasizing a job “well done”, makes a wonderful visual pun.

This archer’s delight, celebrating a bullseye, compares achievement to an ancient, violent sport.

Congrats! Now, Drink!

Some of our cards are quite obviously an attempt to excuse or condone the imbibing of alcohol as a mechanism for celebration. Maybe that means PigSpigot artists are a bunch of drunks. Or maybe it’s just that they are plugged into cultural or social norms. For what is more traditional than throwing a few back to celebrate a job well done, a baby born or a hangover cured?

This fantastic design shows a popping champagne bottle and lots of colorful, effervescent bubbles.

Likewise, this card shows two clinking champagne flutes. Nice stems!

Our Piglets really know how to party!

Let’s just hope they party responsibly.

Remember, we make it easier for more people to send better cards!

See you around the sty,
The Pig

Card of the Day: I like you, in a really creepy, clingy way

Why the mis-matched species of fantastical creatures? Why the nervous expression on the little one’s face? Once more, only Ben Schwartz has the key to these mysteries.

Here you are, in this card with your mysteriously sullen look – you couldn’t even offer your paramour a flower? Are you flirting with me or not? Only Ben Schwartz has the answer.

How to Say You’re Sorry With a Greeting Card.

Written by: Josh

Category: Uncategorized

threewayapologyAt PigSpigot, we know it can be hard to say you’re sorry. Sometimes we upset our loved ones or friends – and sometimes we do this very terrible thing to them. That’s where greeting cards come in. They’re a perfect way to say I’m sorry. Like this “I’m sorry I Rickrolled You” card, which, of course, we have at PigSpigot. There are two different ways to say you’re sorry, and here at PigSpigot we specialize in both.

A Non-Apology Apology

1. Oops – you could hear me? My bad.

2. Yeah… Sorry about that.

3. Gee… I didn’t know you’d find out.

4. Sorry I kicked you in the…

Heartfelt, but Humorous

1. I’ve been such a monster!

2. I’m such cow manure.

3. Like a straw, I suck.

4. Like Balloon Boy, I did it for the show.

So apologize with guts and gusto here at PigSpigot.

You’ll find that saying you’re sorry, even with a tongue in your cheek, is a great way to cement friendships and make love last.

Turning Internet Memes into Greeting Cards

Written by: David

Category: Uncategorized

pigspigotmemesHere at the sty, we spend a ton of time looking at funny stuff on the web. In fact, one of the reasons we started PigSpigot was to create a place where people could easily enjoy – and add to – the hilarity of the social internet, and even send some of that joy offline in the form of printed cards.

When a particularly enchanting video, photo, or event goes viral online (like, say, “Bacon is good for me“), it becomes known as a meme, and many of our artists have paid homage to these memes by turning them into awesome card designs.

With an assist from the folks at KnowYourMeme.com, here are some of our favorites:

The Meme: Dramatic Chipmunk
The Card: A suspenseful invitation

The Meme: Double Rainbow Guy
The Card: An intense way to say you care

The Meme: Bros Icing Bros
The Card: Icing 2.0

The Meme: Sheee-it
The Cards: Clay Davis-themed ways to say congratulations for birthdays, births, Mothers Days, weddings, and graduations . Also appropriate for thank you cards and expressions of true love.

The Meme: Balloon Boy
The Card: A reality-based way to say you’re sorry

The Meme: Truck Nutz
The Card: A politically inspired way to say, um, something

The Meme: Kanye Interrupts
The Card: Simply the best of all time

Remember, we make it easier for more people to send better cards!

See you around the sty,
The Pig
