We asked April to tell us about herself, her work–you know the drill. Here’s what she told us!

What inspires your work?
Flea markets, my vintage postcard collection, most certainly the music I am listening too, my loved ones – ooh and old wallpaper; something I see on the ground when out exploring, album covers – I just never know. I have this weird lens – I tend to notice and absorb details where other people may not…..so, I often get inspired by a little thing that then morphs in an obscure way. You get that right?

What’s your favorite kind of greeting card to receive?
The ones that are surprises – the random occasion ones vs. birthday or holidays.

What’s your favorite kind of card to send?
The birthday ones, in the gift. Im a huge birthday person. Love ‘em.

What is the last card you received / sent?
RECEIVED: a e card from an ex-lover. SENT: A thank you note to my Grandma.

Where do you do your best work?
Late at night, or early in the morn…..doesn’t matter where.

What’s your favorite medium and why?
Collage, photography – watercolor…mix it all up with some vector art. I love to make things with my hands….period.

Tell us what you think about the Pig!
LLLLLLLLLLLove the pig. I have a blast coming up with these cards, the patterns, ideas, etc. I love the community-based concept too. We need more creative outlets such as this – where artists of all types can create, get noticed, have fun & make money. Rinse, laugh, and repeat….rinse, laugh, and repeat.

What’s your favorite pork product?
A mysterious shot I had once…bourbon with a bacon strip on zee side.

Where can people find your art for purchase?
All prints and work on my website (april.unit89.com) is for sale. As a self-employed designer I am always taking on groovy new projects, commission and other wise. I love to collaborate, Im able to travel – so give me a holler. Other work can be found on Hard Cards site too. I am also working on a product line of my own right not…think ocean and comfort!
